Mr Coffee Cafe Frappe Maker Review

Why a Frappe Maker?

Frappuccinos (or Café Frappes) are available – at a cost – in Starbucks, McDonald’s and other cafés. However, they cost a pretty penny, and there isn’t always one close to your house. Making frappes at home wasn’t something I even considered doing – it looked like too much of a hassle – plus I was afraid to test my relatively brittle blender with crushing ice.

Mr Coffee BVMC-FM1 Café Frappe Maker (which I’ll call frappe maker for short) has changed that. The Frappe Maker is definitely special – no other products can do what it does. It brews hot coffee over the ice cubes, milk, and other ingredients you put in the pitcher, and then proceeds to automatically blend it to Frapperfection (feeling a bit cheesy today). It’s very quick (3 minutes) and all too easy to use (just a press of a single button).

When I did my research before buying it, the reviews were very positive. However some missed a few points, so I thought I’d create this site and write my own extensive frappe maker review.

Frappe Maker – Detailed review

I got into drinking Frappes when I used to work around the corner from a Starbucks. Now I usually get them at the Starbucks when I go shopping, once or twice a week. At around $4, they’re an expensive treat!

Anyway, when I saw a TV ad for the Frappe Maker, I went online, found the best price for it (free shipping!) and ordered it. The package came in the mail a few days later and I wanted to use it right away… I wanted to see whether a Frappuccino from a frappe maker would taste as good as the real McCoy!

Size – The Frappe Maker isn’t too big

Frappe Maker

The Frappe Maker has a small footprint

I don’t have a lot of room to spare on my kitchen counter, but I’m happy to report the frappe maker has a small footprint. It’s narrow and tall – a cross between a coffee machine and a blender.

Easy to use – The Frapper Maker is super simple

The quick start guide and a recipe book were a bit of good help here. I would suggest you make sure you have some coffee filters at home as they don’t come with the device.

Either way, using The Frappe Maker is very easy. Some ground coffee in the top basket and some milk, ice and whatever my mind desires to have in the pitcher. A short button press away and the Frappe Maker brews the coffee, pours it into the pitcher and after about a minute it starts blending it. The transition from brewing to blending can be a bit loud; you’ll know what I mean when you get it. You do get used to it – but it did make me jump the first time. To make the ice crush better, use smaller (or moon shaped) ice cubes.

After a few pulses and blends (all automatic), the frappe maker stops and your frappe is ready… The ice consistency is perfect – like shaved ice. If you want to blend it further to achieve a finer consistency of ice, the Frappe Maker has a “blend” button – however I found it unnecessary.

The Frappe Maker Recipe Book – deserves a mention!

I’ve got to say a good word about the recipe book that came with the Frappe Maker – it’s really awesome. I guess I was worried I’d get bored with the Frappe Maker if I keep making the same few coffee drinks. I could use a hand with creativity in the kitchen – especially when making concoctions I haven’t had too much experience with.

The recipe book really helped with that. It has a lot of recipes, divided to “Everyday Drinks” and “Holiday Drinks”. There are a lot more than the regular McDonald’s or Starbucks variety. Alongside the regular Mocha, Vanilla and Green Tea Frappe you can find awesome concoctions like the Banana Split Mocha, Black Russian, Tiramisu and Raspberry Truffle Frappes. There’s even one there called “Death By Chocolate Frappe” that I didn’t dare make yet. The pictures in the book are mouth watering which really motivates me to try and make them all. After a while I started getting more confident and even made my own Frappe Maker recipe for Lemon and Ginger Tea Frappuccino!

The Taste Test – The Frappe Maker passes with flying colors

The Frappe Maker seems blunder proof so far – after making 60+ frappes I haven’t had one that tasted bad yet. My kids, husband and the numerous guests who tried the Frappe Maker Frappuccinos gave the same verdict – yummy!

Health – The Frappe Maker can make low calorie, low sugar Frappuccinos. If you so wish it…

Are frappes calorie bombs? Not necessarily. If you use regular ingredients, the answer is yes. I still make regular frappes every once in a while, but these days I tend to use my Frappe Maker with decaffeinated coffee to avoid the jitters, and Stevia (natural sweetener) and low fat milk to reduce the calories.

These healthy frappes come out very yummy still, so I don’t feel like I’ve lost out on a lot. It’s almost like getting the best of both worlds – delicious frappes, still healthy. You can’t get that at Starbucks!

Is The Frappe Maker worth the price? Final Verdict

I found the price for the frappe maker to be reasonable (I bought through Amazon.com and got a great price plus free shipping!).

The value I get for the price is that it allows me to enjoy my favorite treat a lot more. The Frappe Maker definitely saves a lot of money in the long run too. Seeing that the frappes are really cheap now, it’s become much less of a dollar burner. I’ve made over 60 by now, so it’s well earnt its price!

Functionality – you can probably do everything the frappe maker does by yourself, if you have a blender and a coffee machine – but I know I never did though (lazy old me). The Frappe Maker just makes the frappe creation process fun and easy! If you’re like me and you like buying appliances that inspire you to whip up stuff you wouldn’t otherwise consider making – the Mr Coffee Café Frappe Maker is for you.

Do you want to whip up delicious Frappe drinks in a timely manner, without making a mess in the kitchen? If so, you might want to read more about the Mr. Coffee Café Frappe Maker review I am sharing with you all. With this Frappe machine, I have been able to make drinks in less than 5 minutes. They taste better than your average Frappe at Starbucks too! There are a couple recipes I am using to get a creamy and soft taste to this Frappe, which I will be sharing with you all later. One thing that I have learned about this Frappe maker is that it can do two different tasks to make the job easier. This is what I love the most.

What the Frappe maker does is grind up any coffee beans for you. Also, you don’t necessarily have to use beans, although it achieves a more natural taste. You could also use a coffee mix with beans already grinded. Either way, the Frappe will grind the beans and it will come out as a liquid, seeping into the blender. Before you do all this though, you will need to add your ingredients to the blender. After this, just turn on the blender and you are all-ready.

Benefits

In my Mr. Coffee Café Frappe Maker Review, I will be sharing some benefits of this machine. First off, is it’s ease of use. You don’t have to program it or play with any complicated buttons. Also, clean-up is very simple. Once you have made a Frappe, all you need to do is remove the blender compartment and put it in the dish washer. You will be able to put it back the next morning for some more Frappe-making fun!

Another benefit of the Frappe Maker is that the blender is very strong. With most blenders I have used for Frappe makers, the blades have been very dull. Most manufacturers did not pay attention to the detail of the blade. This is very important, since they need to be able to cut ice. Mr. Coffee definitely did a great job, having sharp blades to cut through ice in a matter of seconds, turning it to slush in no time. I no longer have to mix it by hand, or use my blender which is more troublesome anyways.

My Experience

My overall experience of the Mr. Coffee Café Frappe maker is positive, and I rate it a 9 out of ten stars. Truthfully being honest with you, the only thing I did not like is that it the blender is slightly noisier than I would have thought, but this is because it is a heavy duty kitchen appliance. After all, you are not using an every-day blender. It is made to crush ice instantly. Aside from this, the product is absolutely amazing. When I first saw it on Amazon, I was a bit skeptical but after reading all the positive reviews – I decided to go for it. About 1 week later, I received my brand new Mr. Coffee Café maker.

It arrived in a large, slightly tall box. It was packaged perfectly and as I pulled it out – it looked just like the picture. This is an incredibly slim appliance, meaning I could store it anywhere on the kitchen top. This is one reason why I love my new Frappe maker. My kitchen needs all the extra space it can get so this certainly wasn’t a bother.

There is no type of complicated set up or tiny parts together for that matter. I had just put my Frappe maker on the kitchen counter and got to work. Beforehand though, you may want to wash the blender part since you will be making Frappe’s in it. Mine was a bit dusty but with a good wash, it is fine. Immediately, I added coffee beans to the filter on top, after opening the black compartment and added water. Shortly after, dark liquid began running down into the blender. Previously, I had added ice in the blender so it was ready to be blender. All I had to do after is add extra sugar and a few scoops of ice cream.

Recipes for Mr. Coffee Café Frappe Maker

Before I started making my Frappe though, I had to find the recipes for Mr. Coffee Café Frappe Maker. This wasn’t a problem for me though because I already have a special milkshake book I skim through sometimes. You can also try looking online if you want new recipes. In the meantime, I’ll tell you one of my favorite recipes.

The first recipe is the Orange Delight Frappe. This is basically a Frappe which has light coffee, water, ice, and lots of ice cream. What gives this Frappe it’s unique taste? Well, what I do is add two slices of orange. This may seem strange to some of you but the blend tastes divine. The trick is not too put too much coffee and milk in. Instead, concentrate on diluting it mostly with ice cream and some water. You can also decorate your glass with a slice of orange.

Mr. Coffee Frappe Maker Review – Cookies and Milk!

I recall searching online, trying to find out how I can make myself a Frappe. I was tired of going to coffee shops every day before work and spending my hard earned money. I knew I should make myself one instead of buying one with aside of muffins. Anyways, I wrote down some recipes to start out with and also encountered another site. There it was on Youtube, just sitting there and staring at me. It was the Mr. Coffee Frappe Maker. I saw someone adding coffee mixture into a top compartment along with water, and watched it seep into a blender filled with ice and milk. (more…)

How to make a Caramel Frappe

How to make a Caramel Frappe

So, lately you went out to eat with your friends and tasted a delightful Caramel Frappe. You sat there, wondering how you could make the same recipe from home. This is certainly something you can make, providing you have the right ingredients. Luckily, we are here to show you exactly how to make this recipe. You can top your Caramel Frappe with coconut flakes, an orange slice, or another fruit of your choice. There is also chocolate syrup which is the most popular among Frappe drinks.

First, gather up some crushed ice, half a cup of coffee, and half a cup of ice cream. If you don’t like your Frappe too sweet, it is perfectly fine to go without the ice cream and just use milk as a replacement. Add everything into the blender when you are ready.

Feel free to add some extra sugar or any cream to the mix. Turn the blender on high, blending for at least 3 minutes or until it is blended into a smooth mixture.

Take out some caramel syrup, pouring it into your Frappe blend. Go ahead and turn the blender on again, at least for 60 seconds.

Now pour the mixture into a glass or a tall cup. Garnish with whip cream on top. You can also add a small piece of your favorite fruit. Add some of the caramel syrup across the whip cream for a fancy Frappe decoration. It also tastes delicious too!

You can also make your Frappe with something called Mr. Coffee Frappe Maker. This is a genius kitchen appliance which has the ability to make coffee and Frappe by using only two compartments. These are the coffee bean grinder and the blender! It only has a few settings, allowing anyone to use it. This is so easy to use and you can make your favorite Frappe every morning.
